Hobbit Lane

we're going to move. don't get excited - we can't afford to move overseas just yet, but we are going to move downtown. we looked at places yesterday and really like one of them. we're planning on this place however we still have to "officially" file an application and whatnot - which to be perfectly honest is nerve-wracking. the place we're looking at is a carriagehouse apartment (which means that it's an apartment overtop a detached garage of someone's house). i didn't really have very high hopes going into it but i figured to give it a shot. the main house is an old victorian house and the carriagehouse dave referred to as "Hobbit House" - and it does look like it. it's only one level but pretty spacious with slanted ceilings and a ton of skylights. of course, now we're getting excited and you know me - i'm already working on changing utilities and whatnot. after talking with the wife who is renting she was really nice and i think she really liked us, but of course we still have to be 'approved' and find out if we're worthy. this is the part that i hate. i don't really see her & her husband saying no - but there is still that waiting period that just sucks. not to mention the fact that she's about to give birth at moment - which may or may not work in our favor. they could either be preoccupied and say due why not - or they could dillydally around and we're waiting on tenderhooks. although as far as i know they're looking to fill it as soon as possible. dave & i have already decided to hire movers. we'll box our crap but someone else is moving it all. i'm not fighting getting through door frames with furniture anymore. we wouldn't have a yard anymore, but we would have a little spot outside the door on the driveway. the garage is set back far from the road and behind the house, so there's lots of privacy and it's quite. best thing is that this house is in dowtown KC and only about a 15min drive to work. now that you all have heard everything about our potential new place i am sure you are bored to tears, but too bad. i don't really have anything else exciting to say. work is blah - it's great to have dave there but i still abhor jason. oh well - it's a vicious cycle. if we can hopefully get this carriagehouse then we won't waste an hour of our day commuting to work and use that time to decompress. we'd be about 5 min from the plaza and westport (shopping & drinking). keep your fingers crossed......

I wanna live in a hobbit house, too! Well, it might be little be short for me, but, still, I want a hobbit house! You know, with their obsession for food, I bet hobbits have just awesome kitchens!

well, this hobbit house has a very 'distinct' kitchen.... there isn't any. basically everything is along the wall and the entire floor plan is open. it's cool but definitely a challenge.... nevertheless, once we're (hopefully) in, we're having a hobbit-style-raclette-dinner!

all of this hobbit talk is making me scared. maybe it's because you and paul seem to know way too much about hobbits. for instance, what is a hobbit-style-raclette-dinner?
that said, i hope you get it. consider my fingers crossed. keep me posted.

man raclette dinners are good! I LOVE the raclette, as I know you do also, Pam. Cathy, however, needs to be invited to a raclette dinner pronto.
As far as hobbit knowledge is concerned, well... I mean, isn't what we said just common knowledge? I mean, sheesh, it's not like we were talking about the effect of Bungo's and Belladonna's marraige on aristocratic hobbiton, ya know? >.> <.<
